Former U.S. District Judge Sue L. Robinson was a member of Delaware’s busy district court for more than 25 years. Her public service has been recognized by such organizations as the Philadelphia Intellectual Property Law Association, the New Jersey Intellectual Property Law Association, the New York Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Intellectual Property Owners Education Foundation. During her tenure, she served as the first woman Chief Judge for the District of Delaware, as well as being selected to serve on the Judicial Conference of the United States. She was elected a member of the American Law Institute in 2015.

During her tenure on the bench, Judge Robinson presided over an extraordinary number of complex cases, primarily involving patent disputes (including the billion dollar stent litigation), but also including numerous trademark infringement and antitrust disputes.

Judge Robinson was born in Mount Carmel, Illinois, and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Delaware in 1974 and a Juris Doctor from the University of Pennsylvania Law School in 1978. She was in private practice in Wilmington, Delaware from 1978 to 1983. In addition, prior to her appointment to the bench, Judge Robinson served as an Assistant United States Attorney and the United States Magistrate Judge for the District of Delaware.
